Review History

Inspect snapshots from the local UI and CLI.

eve provides a local web UI for reviewing repository product history without sending repository data to a hosted service.

What to review

Read snapshots the way you would read a product changelog with evidence attached:

  • What changed?
  • Why did it change?
  • How was it verified?
  • Which decisions and risks matter?
  • Which artifacts prove the behavior?
  • Which Git state implements it?
  • Which snapshots are related?

Inspect from the CLI

eve snapshot <snapshot-id>

Generate a changelog

eve changelog --since <snapshot-id>
eve changelog --from <from-snapshot-id> --to <to-snapshot-id> --markdown

Changelogs are generated from snapshot fields, so they describe product evolution rather than commit messages.

Compare product states

eve compare <from-snapshot-id> <to-snapshot-id>

Each repository page includes a Compare tab for reviewing user-visible changes, decisions, risks, validation, and timeline entries between two snapshots from that repository.

For the full workflow, see Compare Product States.

Checkout an implementation state

eve checkout <snapshot-id>

Use --force only when you intentionally want to overwrite local working tree state:

eve checkout --force <snapshot-id>

Validate a snapshot file

eve validate .eve/snapshots/<snapshot-id>.json

Canonicalize a snapshot file

eve canonicalize .eve/snapshots/<snapshot-id>.json
