Release Notes
Use eve snapshots to draft product-facing release notes.
eve can turn product snapshots into release-note style summaries. This is useful when you want to explain what changed for users without reconstructing the release from commits or chat history.
Pick a range
Choose the snapshots that bound the release or review period.
eve changelog --since <previous-release-snapshot-id> --markdownYou can also use a date or an explicit snapshot range:
eve changelog --since 2026-07-01 --markdown
eve changelog --from <from-snapshot-id> --to <to-snapshot-id> --markdown--since <snapshot-id> starts after the boundary snapshot. Date ranges include snapshots created on or after the provided UTC date.
What the changelog includes
The changelog is built from snapshot fields, not Git commit messages.
It groups completed product work by snapshot type and uses each snapshot's userVisibleChange when present. If a snapshot does not have a user-visible change, eve falls back to the snapshot title.
This keeps release notes focused on product behavior and evidence instead of implementation detail.
Compare before publishing
For a richer review, compare the same endpoints:
eve compare <from-snapshot-id> <to-snapshot-id> --markdownComparison output includes product changes, decisions, risks, validation, and timeline entries. Use it to check whether release notes are missing important context.
Good release-note snapshots
Release notes are only as clear as the snapshots behind them. Before using eve changelog, make sure important snapshots include:
- a clear product summary
userVisibleChangewhen behavior changed for users- validation commands and outcomes
- artifacts when screenshots, URLs, or logs prove the result
- risks or decisions that release reviewers should know
