Planned Snapshots
Approve implementation plans before agents make snapshot-worthy changes.
Planned Snapshots add a local human approval gate before non-trivial product work. An agent declares what it intends to change, EVE stores a durable Plan request, a human approves or edits it locally, and the final Snapshot records whether the implementation matched the locked Plan.
declare_plan -> approval -> locked Plan revision -> implementation -> complete_snapshotDurable requests
Agents call declare_plan with a caller-stable planRequestId, a goal, acceptance criteria, allowed repository-relative path globs, optional milestones, and an optional verification suite.
The request is durable. If an MCP call times out, is cancelled, or either side restarts, the agent should call get_plan_request or call declare_plan again with the same planRequestId. Reusing the same ID with identical content resumes the request. Reusing it with different content fails.
Pending requests are stored in EVE's Git-private local state, so waiting for approval does not dirty the repository.
Approval
eve dev and eve daemon expose the same local approval queue. The web UI shows pending Plans in a banner, and the macOS approval app can reuse or start the local daemon.
Approving unchanged content locks the agent's revision. Editing during approval appends and locks a human revision. Rejection requires feedback. If HEAD, branch, working tree fingerprint, or verification policy changes before approval, the request becomes stale and a fresh request is required.
Completion
When the implementation is complete and verified, the agent passes the locked planId and planRevision to complete_snapshot or to the CLI draft with eve add --plan-id ... --plan-revision ....
EVE records Plan conformance on the Snapshot:
matchedwhen scope, policy, check definitions, and eligible verification evidence matchfailedwhen checks fail, policy or definitions drift, or changed paths fall outside the approved scopeincompletewhen required evidence is missing or indeterminateno_planwhen the Snapshot was completed without a locked Plan reference
Acceptance criteria remain human-readable evidence. EVE checks approved scope and verification evidence; it does not claim semantic proof that every sentence in the criteria was satisfied.
